Terms of use
Last updated 20 September 2026.
These terms govern the use of the Rimay software and of the online service that comes with it. They are accepted when the account is created, through a checkbox that is never pre-ticked. Purchase terms are in the terms of sale.
1. The service
Rimay is a companion that lives on your Mac: you hold one key and speak, and it types where your cursor is blinking; you hold the other, and it answers out loud and can act on your computer at your request.
2. Your account
An account is opened with a valid email address, to which a sign-in link is sent. There is no password. You are responsible for access to your mailbox: whoever reaches it can reach your account.
The account is personal. One licence covers one Mac. If you sign in on a new Mac using the link received by email, the old Mac is disconnected.
The service is for adults.
3. What is not allowed
- circumventing quotas, plan limits or anti-abuse measures;
- reselling, renting out or sharing access to the service;
- using it to produce or distribute unlawful content, or to infringe the rights of others;
- using it to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts or data that are not yours;
- attempting to disrupt the service, to probe it or to extract its secrets.
Rimay can act on your computer. You must only have it carry out what you are yourself entitled to do.
4. What is yours, what is ours
What you dictate, say and produce with Rimay belongs to you. We claim no rights over it and keep no copy of it: the privacy policy sets out what stays on your Mac and what never leaves it.
The software, its interface, its film, its artwork and its mascot remain ours. A subscription grants you a personal, non-exclusive right of use for the duration of the subscription. It does not allow you to decompile the software, outside the cases the law permits, nor to distribute a copy of it.
5. Availability
After app setup, dictation works without our server: it is transcribed locally on your Mac. Speech on this Mac also keeps transcription and speech synthesis on your machine. Requests, responses and tasks carried out on your Mac need the online service and the AI providers it depends on. Hosted online conversation is currently suspended.
We do our best to keep the service available, without being able to guarantee it continuously: an interruption may come from maintenance, from an incident, or from an outage at one of those providers. We announce foreseeable maintenance when it is likely to get in your way.
6. Ending the account
On your side. You can close your account whenever you want. The data described in the privacy policy is erased, except for the accounting records the law obliges us to keep. What lives on your Mac stays on your Mac: erasing it is up to you.
On our side. We may suspend or close an account for a serious breach of article 3, or for non-payment. Except in an emergency or where the law requires otherwise, we tell you first and give you the chance to explain. If we close an account for a reason that is not your doing, the unused part of the subscription is refunded.
If the service shuts down. Should we cease operating it, we would give you at least thirty days' notice and refund the unused part of the subscription.
7. Changes to these terms
These terms may change. Any change to your disadvantage is announced by email at least thirty days before it takes effect; if it does not suit you, you may cancel free of charge before that date.
8. Governing law
French law. Consumers keep the benefit of the more protective mandatory rules of their European Union country of residence, and may refer a dispute to the mediator named in the terms of sale.
